Program Delivery

Undergraduate Teaching

Bachelor of Engineering - Manufacturing Engineering

Con has contributed as part of the course team to the development of the new Manufacturing Engineering B. Eng programme. This is an innovative programme that combines the traditional engineering programme with a comprehensive advanced computational modelling for the manufacturing domain. This enables the student to proficiently solve problems within the increasingly complex manufacturing domain. He has also contributed actively in assisting the department complete its course accreditation processes with the Institute of Engineers of Ireland.

Bachelor of Engineering - Enterprise Engineering

Con has contributed as part of the course team to the development of the new Enterprise Engineering B. Eng programme. This is an innovative programme that combines the traditional engineering programme with a comprehensive connection to the rest of the Enterprise. This is becoming increasingly important in the future where there is a need for engineers that contribute in a wider area within the enterprise and not just in improving the direct manufacturing activities. This programme is being offered for the first time in the academic year 2007/2008.

Postgraduate Teaching

Master of Science of Technology Management

Con has collaborated with the Atlantic University Alliance (AUA) in the Development of the Master of Science in Technology Management Course. This is an extremely innovative course for the University since we have developed an eLearning distance based approach to providing post graduate education to individuals that live a distance from the University. This has provided an opportunity for learning that was not available previously from the University where the modern eLearning Technologies were be deployed for an entire programme. As part of this programme he developed the module Manufacturing Improvement Methodologies.

Master of Business Administration

Con has collaborated with the Kemmy Business School particularly with the MBA course directors in their various MBA programmes. My contribution has been in providing input in the area of Operations Management. This is an extremely innovative course for the University since it is also being taught in locations that are more convenient for students. He has lectured to two cohorts of MBA students in Clonmel on Saturday mornings. It is a very rewarding intellectual experience to engage wit this cohorts of students in particular. This engagement has led to considerable innovations in the entire approach to delivering the MBA programme.

MSc. Technology Management

It is the nature of teaching that it always evolving and as part of this Con has worked hard to exploit new technologies in order to support distance learning. As part of this effort he is teaching the following E-Learning module where there are only 4 hours lecture contact but where the main interaction occurs through a Bulletin board. The challenge in developing this module for an eLearning mode of delivery was considerable. He has taught this module to each cohort since its inception in 2003.
